Mohs Society Europe

Society for promotion of Mohs Surgery and outpatient dermatosurgery

Funding by the Mohs Society Europe

What is funded?

As stated on the About us page, Mohs Society Europe is a non-profit organization which aims to promote Mohs Surgery and dermatosurgery in the outpatient medical office setting throughout Austria, Europe and internationally.

This comprises the promotion of the surgical-technical aspects of the procedure on the one hand and access to outpatient Mohs surgery for the population in terms of its availability in private practice and financial aspects on the other.

Current funding for patients

In contrast to other countries such as Australia, the Netherlands, Spain and the USA, there are currently no specific billing positions for outpatient Mohs surgery with intraoperative frozen section in the Austrian and German public social security system nor by private insurances.

The Mohs Society Europe strives to promote outpatient Mohs surgery in private practice with € 150, € 250 or € 350 depending on the size / scope of the Mohs surgery.

Applications for funding can currently be submitted under the following conditions:

  1. There is no legal entitlement to funding.
  2. Only for self-pay patients, without submission to a public or private insurance.
  3. The Mohs surgery must be performed in an outpatient practice in Austria by a Mohs surgeon who is a regular member of the Mohs Society Europe.
  4. The funding application must be submitted and confirmed before the Mohs surgery.
  5. The funding amount will be deducted directly from the doctor's bill and cannot be paid out to patients.
